I saw this special yesterday while I was at the gym and I was going to write a post about it. It does not shock me at all. In fact, we do not really see it or experience it as much in the DC are because there are so many foreign nationals here. But my brother goes to a school 3 hours west of DC and he has been the target of racism and discrimination hard core. It is a predominantly white university and the things that they have said to him are heartbreaking. That just gives me another reason why I love DC so much. You can kind of go about your business in a semi-normal manner.

to do my part i think we should go to love on friday and saturday nights.

no really, all jokes aside, there is really no black and white answer to this issue (pun not intended). color and class still dominate the ideas that shape "importance" in this country. there are issues that the black community need to address before we can even tackle racism as a national issue. we will eventually all get along.
