A formerly anon blogger, trying to make it honest
I have had a great birthday weekend…dinner out with my girlfriends (finally not the youngest) on Saturday in Georgetown, Skins game (and victory!) and Fogo de Chao with my boyfriend yesterday, and tonight dinner and a movie (The Heartbreak Kid). Things are good.

What a fabulous weekend! On Friday night I headed into DC for a good friend from college’s birthday celebration. We started off with a couple drinks at Mate, and then headed to Lima to finish off the night. I had SO much fun, and I don’t even really like house/trance/club (whatever you want to call it) music, I’m much more a hip-hop kind of girl. We ended up getting a table at Lima and went through about 5 bottles of champagne and vodka. They brought out the bottles with sparklers attached, very fun! Yours truly actually drank a lot, which is a rare event considering the combination of unfortunate asian glow and the fact that drinking usually makes me not so much fun. This time though, it was all good, and 6 mixed drinks and 2 shots later I was still standing! Thanks to KassyK for her favorite drink (that I have inherited hehe) which started my night off right. Lima was a good time, and I actually ran into one of my old coworkers that I hadn’t seen in over a year, and also one of my sorority sisters. My only complaint was those damn stairs to the basement, I thought I was going to kill myself walking down them! We finally headed home and fell asleep by 4 or 5…let me just say that three people sleeping in a King size bed made my Queen seem pretty inadequate.

On Saturday I took a long nap and then headed to my friend’s house to order Chinese food and watch the Syracuse vs. Louisville game. Sadly, Cuse lost in the last minutes. When that was over I met up with some friends at Shirlington to see Notes on a Scandal. The movie was fantastically funny with a witty narration by Judi Dench, although it was a bit creepy at times. Not so much a story about the affair Cate Blanchett led, and more about crazy ass Judi Dench. Still, I enjoyed it and definitely recommend it!
Another great movie I saw was Waiting, which starred hottie Ryan Reynolds. Dane Cook also appeared along with some other C-list actors. The movie was definitely a hilarious reminder of my time waiting tables at various restaurants through college. There is just something about working at a restaurant…sometimes I kind of miss the craziness.
The rest of my weekend is supposed to be spent cleaning my apartment (which was supposed to happen last weekend but another long night out prevented that as well), but we’ll see how that goes. I also need to buy a new vacuum…which is turning out to be a great debacle. Who knew that finding a good one would be so hard? Every review I read sucks, and the really good ones are way too expensive. Ugh. Any ideas????
Anyway, I’m looking forward to this week as I think there are about to be some BIG changes to my world. We will see what happens, but it will certainly be shared!
I had a great weekend and it’s still not over!
Here are a few pics from my birthday party at Play on Friday night…more stories to come later!
Some very fun bloggers also came out to say hello before heading to VK’s super hot VIP party! Thanks for stopping by Kassy, Velvet, and I-66!

Ah, the time is almost upon us for AM’s annual birthday celebrations!
Although the plans have not yet been set, I’ve been thinking about it and am looking forward to another fun night with good friends.
But, to make me even more happy, here are the things I’ve been lusting after lately…
1. This credit sized compact from Trish McEvoy. Great colors and super cute.
2. Purse from Ann Taylor Loft…it’s professional, polished, and oh so pretty.

3. I love this set of placemats and dishes from Crate & Barrel (yes, I know they don’t match - I didn’t mean for them to be used together).

4. And you really can’t go wrong with anything asian inspired - plates, bowls, wall hangings…especially with cherry blossoms. I also love this entire set. Beautiful!

5. I love clothes. And these shirts from FCUK…so hot. I sweat them.

Ah, but aside from my wishful thinking, I’m looking forward to seeing Nick Lachey in concert with my bff/life partner, and to a fabulous birthday dinner (possibly at Maggiano’s?) and then a night (or two) out on the town. Hopefully it will be just as good as last year. I’m contemplating holding the festivities at either Felix, Chloe, Play, or K Street. Mostly because I have hook ups at those places and I want to dance! A nice lounge/sitting area is key as well.
So here’s to birthdays and all the fun that comes with them!
Yes, it’s true…this weekend Ms. AM had a birthday. It was wild. It was out of control. It was FABULOUS!
The weekend began pretty tame. On Friday I got taken out to lunch by coworkers and also received cupcakes - which was pretty damn exciting. I came home and my roommate and I roasted a chicken and ate ice cream cake. We watched Garden State and called it an early night. Fuck the rain man.
Side note: As I was sitting home, I enjoyed reading this. It’s quite inspirational. I laughed through the entire post.
Saturday was the actual birthday. I started out the day with some shopping. Then around 7:00 the real fun began. I went out to Regent Thai for dinner with a few friends. The food was great and the restaurant was beautiful. From there we headed to Felix to get the party started. Gonna sip Barcardi like it’s my birthday, and I don’t give a fuck cause it’s my birthday!
I got a sweet hook up at Felix, so we had a nice sitting area reserved, drink specials for everyone with my party, and no cover for those on my guest list. We arrived early, around 9:30, so the dinner crowd was just finishing up. I started out with a few blood orange martinis (which are yummy), then moved on to some strawberry-ish martini and then sour apple. Plus a few soco & lime shots here and there. Needless to say, by midnight I was hammered and the unfortunate asian glow was in full effect.
I definitely became THAT girl on the dance floor, and ended up making out with a coworker’s roommate (who I had met before). Oh, not one of my brighter moments. But, I figure what the hell, it was my birthday - and it’s not like I’m like that ALL the time! Apparently I even got called out by the DJ.
All in all I had a wonderful time with some great friends. Even though the weather was shitty all weekend, the rain let up by the evening - and I had about 25 people show up. Very fun! It’s nice because I have friends from a lot of different places, so for one night they were all together. I had a friend from high school, a few from college, and the majority of the others were from my current or previous job.
Thanks to everyone who made my night so fun! I missed my blogging buddies!
